Riese: Kingdom Falling on Syfy.com

After a long time, I am happy to once again bring you some news concerning Riese the Series. The name has changed, it is now Riese: Kingdom Falling and they have switched from Youtube to Syfy.com. It was about time. I was getting a bit itchy about it being stuck somewhere in deal-negotiation limbo. But, they are back on the air now and there is more to come! Apart from the series, there is also an iPhone game under development…. I am already eagerly awaiting its release and will definitely feature and review it once its out.

RIESE: KINGDOM FALLING NOW ONLINE AT SYFY.COM, WITH AN EYE TOWARDS DEVELOPING FOR TELEVISION

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Oct. 30, 2010 – Canadian based production company Riese Productions Ltd. launched the first episode of the award-winning, steampunk digital series Riese: Kingdom Falling on Syfy.com this Tuesday for US audiences, on syfy.com/riese. Riese: Kingdom Falling has also been featured on the New York Times website. Episode will be released every Tuesday and Thursday at 12 PM PST, and will also be available via Sony’s PS3, Microsoft’s Xbox and Amazon. Additionally, Syfy has been quoted as saying that they want to develop the property for television depending on the success of the webseries. Narrated by Amanda Tapping (Sanctuary), the 10-part series stars a collection of local talent including Christine Chatelain (The Collector); Sharon Taylor (Stargate: Atlantis); Ben Cotton (Harper’s Island), Allison Mack (Smallville); Ryan Robbins (Caprica); Patrick Gilmore (Stargate: Universe); Peter Kelamis (Stargate: Universe); Alessandro Juliani (Battlestar Galactica) and Emilie Ullerup (Sanctuary). The web production has already made headlines around the globe in the New York Times, The Globe & Mail and the Vancouver Sun. It launched on YouTube in November 2009 and was viewed 1.3 million times before being taken down by its distributor, Fireworks International, a branch of Content Films.

Riese: Kingdom Falling won the Streamy Award for Best Cinematography in a Web Series with a further three nominations for Best Sound Design, Best Foreign Series and Art Direction. The series was shot in Vancouver, BC, created by Ryan Copple and Kaleena Kiff, and produced by Galen Fletcher and Nicholas Humphries. In addition, the creators of Riese: Kingdom Falling have teamed up with Vancouver based Genius Factor Games to release an iPhone / iPod Touch game to coincide with the launch. Slated for release in late October via iTunes, the virtual RPG card battle game will offer series fans and newcomers alike the chance to utilize alternative media to further enhance the existing story and remain immersed in the haunting world of Riese: Kingdom Falling.
