Higgs Discovery cost Stephen Hawking $100

Oh dear! The Higgs boson has not even been confirmed 100% since it is only “highly likely” right now, and already the bad news are coming in!

Stephan Hawking has lost 100$ in a bet on the Higgs boson. The bet was done with the best intentions, mind you, as Professor Hawking explains:

What a very gentlemen’s club way of going about science, making bets ion the hopes of discoveries that prove you wrong and could lead to greater discoveries! This is the spirit of science and adventure combined! Not all frontiers are out there, some are found towards the Planck length!
Nerd alert! A Planck length is (rather precisely)

1 Planck length = 1.616199 × 10 to the minus 35 meters
