If you have watched the season 3 trailer of Stranger Things (if you did not so far, go here) you will remember this thing that appears at the end, sort of emerging out of the floor:
Looks gross, doesn’t it? Also, this is a real monster, very different from the Demogorgon and the Mindflayer we saw in seasons 1 and 2. The Demogorgon was bilateral symmetrical and looked very much like a very strange animal, which is exactly, what it was. The Mindflayer had radial symmetry, like an octopus (fhtagn!) or a starfish. This thing in the trailer has neither. It is non-symmetrical, it is a big chunk of meat with a head and various appendages stuck into it. The coloration is also lighter than the Demogorgon’s, but this could just be due to the light.
Starting with this monster, I want to speculate about certain features of season 3 of Stranger Things:
I guess the kids will have to face an incursion from a completely different area of the Upside Down, a realm dominated by different and, for lack of a better term, more chaotic and primordial creatures than what we have seen before.
The other option I can think of is that this creature is the result of an experiment some scientist performed with creatures of the Upside Down.
But let’s see. I know what I am going to binge-watch on July 4th (or 5th at the latest).
