Here’s a nice little historical jewel for you:
“The Hole in the Ground”, an informational short film about military and civil response on the home front in Great Britain in the early 1960’s.
The casual stance of everybody involved is so quaint and is of course part of the propaganda effort to keep fears in the population to a minimum.
The whole film is so very British, you half expect a couple of gentlemen in suits with cups of tea in their hand to watch a nuclear explosion and commenting along the lines of:
“This surely has done a lot of damage, my good chap.”
“In deed, my dear fellow.”
